No XTC for thee
No XTC for thee
I remember when I first realized that Andy Partridge was selling the Fuzzy Warbles tunes via iTunes. I’d always wanted to walk into a store and pick these up someday, but with the Tower crumbling, it just didn’t seem like it was going to happen. Then, there they were. A semi-regular search for “Andy Partridge” yielded 1 through 6 of these demos and never released mostly-complete tracks. And OH what gems lay within! I had downloaded several of them and was awaiting the release of 7 and 8 when a search of the store showed the albums, but attempting to buy gave the dreaded, “Nah-ah fella, you’s ain’t gonna be buying DEESE disks on DIS day!” (or something to that effect). Soon after, every trace of them were gone from the US store. Where’d they go? To the UK store!
This is one of those strangest of strange things that is probably happening due to legalities or some other arcane magicks. You see, the only difference in a physical sense between the “beforetime” and “afterness” of this situation is that there’s a flag somewhere in a database within the vast confines of the iTunes Store that is now flipped away from me and towards the UK. I’d imagine some doppelgänger of mine across the water is (in a different accent) feeling elated about this. I’d always thought that the promise of a non-physical store is that you can sell to anyone anywhere! Heck, you could essentially sell the exact same file over and over again and never run out of stock!
Yet, due to the aforementioned shenanigans, instead of selling to both the us and the Brits, someone has decided to relieve us of the ability to purchase these items on iTunes. Because of this, the iMix previously posted just doesn’t work anymore. (Can’t we all just sing along??)
No, I have no control over this, BUT since it looks like a mistake (and quite a forward thinking one at the time I made it!) this is how it will be treated!
